The news of Karl Lagerfeld’s passing has been impossible to elude . It comes as a big shock for some and I’m not going to lie my chin did drop when I read the news on Tuesday afternoon, but I wasn’t surprised since he had been absent on most of his shows this past fashion week which is something he does not tend to do instead walks out proudly after each show.
I’m not going to treat the man as a saint as he had lately expressed some quite problematic opinions around the preception of women and their mistreatment as well as immigration, which for most of us would be seen as thinking patterns of the past. I cannot though degrade the genious he was when it comes to fashion and the boundries he has pushed and the playfulness he has added to couture these past decades. He has inspired and touched many with his arts. His creativity will be hugely missed in the fashion realm but it will be intresting to see what modern twist his succesor(or successors) will bring to the iconic fashion houses that he had been the head of for so long, Rest in Peace, Karl.
