Good evening everyone!
I’m back to work after our little Steam hotel getaway and ready to share my honest review of our staycation there with you(all be it a week late~)!

The hotel overall was wonderful, the visuals of the place are BEAUTIFUL with the old industrial feel and great entertainment. The most of the staff were 10 out of 10. We got there 2 hours before our check in and the receptionist checked if our room was ready and offered us to check in early. We had booked double time in their spa area The Voltage pool club and decided to go out for a quick dinner before we could start the spa.

We decided to keep the dinner on the cheaper side and to a 15 minute walk to MAX that wasn’t too far away from the hotel. There are some other food places not to far away as well and in retrospect me and my boyfriend has decided that our to-go food place the next times we are at Steam will be a sushi/ramen place called Udden. Their food was great and BF even classed it as the best sushi he has had in Sweden so far!

At 16:45 it was time for us to get ready for our time spot in the spa! I had heard mixed reviews about the Voltage club some people think it’s the best with a good selection of pools and saunas, others think it’s too dark or that the pools are too mild in temperature. We had spa slots both in the evening and the morning and I have to say I preferred the overall temperature and brightness in the lit up spaces in the morning.
My boyfriend and my opinion is that the pools COULD have been 1-3 degrees warmer overall(Especially the jaccuzi I think needed to be warmer!). I think 2 pools were around 35 degrees and the other ones were 35 degrees(I don’t know if the outside pool is warmer than 35 degrees?). One other thing is that I felt that the room temperatures also needed to be risen a bit in the evenings in order to not get that little uncomfortable chill when moving around from area to the next area.
The lounging areas were STUNNING but, I felt the overall temp was a BIT to chilly to just lay down peacefully and relax EVEN in their specific relax room. I wish at least that room had a temperature that allowed you to lay in there and feel warm and almost a bit tropical. Luckily the lounging area in front of the outside pool had infra red heating over them, if you got a spot where they were on it was very nice even in the evening. I did enjoy my morning slot more because I felt like the morning sun warmed up the space a bit more making moving around and the lounging area much more enjoyable.

There was more than just the spa to keep you entertained at the hotel. Steam hotel has its own smaller cinema room with I believe 3 screenings a day(morning, afternoon and evening). Surprisingly there was a movie I was interested in both days(Pretty woman and Ghost). They also have a game area where you can enjoy shuffle board, skee ball, pool and other arcade games. We didn’t take the time to do a match in any but it’s definitely on the bucket list next time! What we did take time to enjoy was a karaoke battle in their karaoke room! If you are staying over you get a buddy-price and 1 hour session is only 90 or 99 SEK! It was so fun and really refreshing to sing our heart out to ABBA, Bruno Mars and other favorites!

Overall, our stay there was great! We managed to get a GREAT price during their XMAS flash sale and will definitely be keeping our eyes out for other similar deals in the future but other wise I think we have found our new fave spot if we want to have a fancier date-day away from Uppsala~
